Build Your Email Template
1. Overview
Autobahn Security now lets you save time on email ticketing by creating reusable templates instead of writing the same remediation email over and over. You can use Autobahn’s default template or craft your own.
On top of that, you can fully control your Periodic Summary emails:
- Choose exactly when the summary is sent (daily or weekly, on a specific day and time).
- Choose exactly what it includes — by issue status, assignment, and severity.
You can also trigger a one-off email straight from a Workout page whenever you want to notify someone about a specific remediation task.
This manual covers three things:
- Setting up your Email Ticketing template
- Configuring your Periodic Summary email
- Sending a workout email on demand
2. Setting up your Email Ticketing template
This is where you define the look and content of the emails that go out — both the ones triggered manually from a workout and (once configured) your periodic summaries.
Where to find it: Settings → Team Controls → Ticketing email (also reachable directly at /integrations/email-ticketing, under Integrations).
Steps:
1- Go to Settings in the left-hand navigation, then click Ticketing email under the Team Controls section.
2 – Fill in the required fields:
Integration Name — a label for this configuration (e.g. “Security Team Mailbox”).
Recipient Email — the default address the emails should go to (e.g. tickets-12345@yourteam.com).
3 – Build your Email Template:
- Use the Available Variables section to insert dynamic content — click any variable to copy it (e.g.
{{workout_title}},{{workout_description}},{{workout_impact}},{{workout_mitigation}},{{affected_asset_count}},{{workout_objective}},{{workout_preparation}},{{workout_risk}}). - Optionally pick one of the Predefined Templates from the dropdown to start from Autobahn’s default basics instead of writing from scratch.
- Edit the Subject Template (e.g.
[Security] {{workout_title}}). - Edit the Body Template, combining your own text with the variables above.
4 – Click Save Integration to store your template.
Once saved, this template becomes the default content used whenever a workout is sent by email — you no longer need to retype the same message every time.
Tip: You can revisit this page any time to tweak the wording or swap in a different predefined template — your changes apply to future emails going forward.
3. Configuring your Periodic Summary email
This controls the recurring “Hackability Summary” digest that keeps you and your team updated automatically, without anyone having to send anything manually.
Where to find it: Settings → Features → Periodic summaries
Steps:
1 – Go to Settings → Periodic summaries.
2 – Turn on the “Turn on email summaries” toggle to activate the feature. (All the options below stay locked/greyed out until this is switched on.)
3 – Choose when the email goes out, under Frequency:
- Daily, or
- Weekly — pick the day of the week and the time slot.
- Note: times are based on the GMT+1 timezone, regardless of your own local timezone.
4 – Choose what gets included, under Which Issues to Include:
- Issue Status — send All Open issues, or New Only.
- Include Issues — Assigned to me only, or Organization-wide (all issues across the org).
- Issue Severity — tick any combination of Critical, High, and Medium to control which severities are reported.
5 – Click Update to save your configuration.
With this, each recipient can tailor their own summary — for example, an engineer might want a daily digest of Critical/High issues assigned to them, while a manager might prefer a weekly, organization-wide view of all open issues.
4. Sending a workout email on demand
Outside of the scheduled summary, you can email a specific workout to someone right away — for example, to loop in an asset owner on a remediation task.
Where to find it: Open any workout’s detail page (Workouts → click a workout title), i.e. a URL like /cyberfitness-workouts/{workout-id}/workout.
Steps:
1 – From the Workouts list, click the title of the workout you want to send.
2 – On the workout detail page, click the Send to (share/fork) icon in the top-right corner, next to the download icon.
3 – Select Custom Email from the dropdown.
4 – In the panel that opens, fill in:
- Asset selection — “Send all the asset information” (default) or “Customise selection” to pick specific assets.
- Recipient(s) — type or search the email address(es) to send to.
- Optionally check “Send to your Organization ticketing email” to also (or instead) send to the address configured in step 2 above.
- Title / Email Subject — pre-filled from your saved template, editable per send.
- Description (optional) — add any extra context for the recipient.
5 – Review the details, then click Send.
Once sent, the workout’s Email history will show “See history” instead of “None,” so you can always check who a given workout was sent to and when.

6. FAQ
Q: Can different team members have different summary settings? Yes — the Periodic Summary settings (frequency, status, assignment, severity) are per-user, so each person can configure their own preferences independently.
Q: What timezone are periodic summary emails sent in? GMT+1, regardless of the recipient’s own local timezone. Plan your Daily/Weekly time slot with that offset in mind.
Q: Do I have to fill in the Email Ticketing template before I can send a one-off workout email? The Ticketing email integration defines your organization’s default template and ticketing address, which is convenient to have in place first, but you can still edit the subject, description, and recipients per send from the workout page.
Q: Where can I check whether an email actually went out? On the Workouts list, the Email history column shows “See history” once at least one email has been sent for that workout; click it to see recipients and send dates.
