1. How to add assets in Autobahn

Usually assets are uploaded during the Asset configuration step as part of the Create scan feature. Assets can also be manually added to the inventory using the Upload feature. Once added, they become available for selection when initiating a new scan in Autobahn or when modifying the scope of an existing scan.

This feature is only available for users with Owner and Admin roles.

2. Manual entry vs file template upload

To upload assets, go to the Assets page and click the Upload button in the top-right corner. This will open the Upload Assets view.

Upload_AssetsNext, you'll need to specify the network type:

  • Select Internet-facing if you're uploading external assets that are accessible from the internet.
  • Select Default Internal if you're uploading internal assets that are not externally accessible.

This ensures assets are accurately categorized based on their exposure, allowing the Hackability Score to be properly calculated. Threats identified through internal scans are weighted as less hackable than those detected on externally exposed assets, reflecting their distinct risk profiles.

You can upload assets from only one network at a time. To upload assets from multiple networks, simply repeat the process for each one. This approach helps ensure assets are accurately attributed to their respective networks.

In the Upload Assets section, you can add assets in two ways:

  1. Manually – Add assets one by one using the form.
  2. CSV Upload – Use the template to upload multiple assets at once via a CSV file.

Please ensure the file format strictly follows the template: use a comma (,) as the main delimiter, except for the 'Tags' column, where values should be separated by a semicolon (;)

Once uploaded, the assets will appear in the lower section of the page. Click Import to begin adding them to the system.

3. Enrich assets with criticality, assignees and tags

Specifying criticality, assignee, and tags is optional but highly recommended.

  • Asset Criticality (Critical, Substantial, Moderate) provides valuable context and helps prioritize remediation efforts, focusing on the most sensitive areas of your network.
  • Assigning Owners ensures clear asset responsibility and enables automatic assignment of issues and remediation tasks (Workouts) to the appropriate individuals, streamlining the remediation process.
  • Using Tags enhances filtering capabilities and supports the creation of custom dashboards, offering a focused view of your cybersecurity posture by location, company branch, technology type, operating system, and more.
